going...bananas?
Yeah, so my dad found a mumified banana in one of our kitchen cupboards. Apparently it got pushed back so far that no one noticed it was there. I have a sneaking feeling that it was my older sister and her devious hiding-fruit-in-the-cupboard ways. (Which of course means that the fruit was in the cupboard for upwards of about 2 months.) Check it out:
I find it amazing how a banana could become so mumified (by the way, the banana is now hard to the touch). And as you can see, the banana is now also flat:
And of course my dad, being a man who enjoys meaningful things, refuses to throw it away. Instead, it's now a new art piece in our living room.
Go figure.

Assalaamu Alaikum :)
That is just ... awesome. The poor banana was never eaten, but it just had a different fate from the other bananas.
That's so awesome. The banana that was put aside for against its primary purpose, now serves an entirely different one (considering it can't really serve the primary purpose anymore).
I think it looks nice on top of the clock. Kudos to your father lol.
nice post
:-)
As salaamu alaikum,
Lol wow that's some banana. I'm amazed as to how flat it became...though I didn't realize how flat it was until I saw the second pic. Anyhow, you think other fruits could be mummified the same way? Hmmmm...
Btw, looks very unique at the top of the clock lol.
That is so awesome!!! I bet if you tried and sell it on Ebay some idiot would pay a ton of money for it!
loool...
american muslim took the words right out of mouth!
Dude..how does all the the pulb of the banana actually disappear...subhanAllah, like does it completely dry out, does it evaporate..lol
I really think you should frame the banana, it looks really cool, you know white frame, black banana...it'll be like an antique :)
It makes some interesting art! :)
Squeeky, the fate of the banana was known before it was even born ;) But think about it this way - it lasts a lot longer now.
Brotherhood, yes, it is rather interesting.
Slave of Allah, exactly. Its fate was sealed...though when my mom comes home from Egypt, I'm not sure she'll totally like my dad's interior design schemes ;)
Amatullah, not sure if other fruits can be mumified in the same way. I don't think I'm going to try, hehe.
American Muslim, that's true...I'll look into it once my dad loses interest :D
Al-Hajeji, hi.
Sadaf, I don't quite know how it happened, but it's cool. Hey I never thought about framing it...>:)
Mars, typical mar behaviour. But seriously, I think I'm gaining weight due to the fact that you're no longer hiding food from me :S
Aaliya, yes, I may choose to sell it to the AGO.
Did I ever tell you I have a phobia of rotten fruit?...I don't know if it's a clinical condition or not...so...a bit freaked out by the pic...dumb question...couldn't you smell it?
Assalam-oAlaikum!
I think should build it a proper banana pyramid!
P.S: This reminds me of a few evil bananas I encountered about a month ago! *shuddering* They were evil I tell you! Pure evil!
Fro, nope I didn't know you had a rottenfruitophobia. But the thing is, this banana was totally mumified. It doesn't smell. Weird, I know.
Cookie, I don't know what a banana pyramid is...and fruit can never be evil!! Oh wait, except for cactus pears, which are definitely evil ;)
