The Calm Before the Storm

This past week has felt so ridiculously calm that I'm beginning to wonder if I'm on the verge of something massive. There's always a calm spell before anything major happens in life... Look back on your life at everything that has happened to you and your family, all the milestones that stand out in your memory. Are you looking back? Good. Now that's exactly the opposite of what's happening to me at this very moment. I'm living during all the middle stuff which you usually delete from your memory because it's of no consequence. Oh well. The calm before the storm. The only question that remains is what exactly the storm has in store...

I think be grateful that there is no storm and cherish these calm spells. You'll wish for them in the future.

Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.

94:7
Therefore, when thou art free (from thine immediate task), still labour hard,

94:8
And to thy Lord turn (all) thy attention.

Assalaamu Alaikum :D

Wow ... you know what, I think I may have similar experiences. Everything is always so calm and cool and then outta nowhere, you're hit with something so unexpected! But insha'Allah, it will be good things that you can handle and enjoy

Thanks for the link anon, wow that's really interesting.

Yesterday I was watching the news about Katrina, and I suddenly felt very arrogant for having posted this post.

God, I'm so ungrateful.

Come on, Asmaa. Don't feel too bad. It's just a metaphor.

Sara, it isn't really about the metaphor - though that caused me to stop and think for a while. It's just that I've got this calmness in my life and I'm being arrogant about it.

Don't worry... it's human nature to be wary, to suspect a long spell of ease and happiness.

You should, in fact, be grateful to Allah and pray to Him that he always keeps things that way for you and your family.

Remember - Allah loves those who turn to Him in prosperity, rather than only in adversity!
