Made in Egypt

My mom came back from a (much too long) trip too Egypt a few days ago. She bought us some things that really entertained us. Like this shirt's tag:

It eloquently says "It's time to be in top of quality with our fashion you will test the material." And I don't know why it has a picture of Charlie Chaplin on it.

I love it, it's so random. I love Egyptians.

Assalamu aleikum,
ahahahahaha, it reminds me of Engrish, except it's...Engryptian :D

So Asmaa, are you in top of quality with our fashion? Wha- you aren't ?!
You will test the material...

The power of editing seems to elude people in countries like Egypt, India and Pakistan. I don't understand how these companies can't simply make sure that they wrote something properly... spellcheck doesn't always cut it.

Nauman, try writing something in Arabic and see how well it turns out.

That was awesome!

Haj, if the test fails then you can try to return it. At which point the will say no.

Olde, hey I should start Engryptian.com! Well, my little sister tells me I'm not in top of quality with their fashion, so I don't think so :(

Nauman & Murphy, yeah well if they made sure they spelled correctly and used proper grammar, I'd have nothing to laugh about. So...no thanks :)

Brotherhood, yeah she came back, alhamdulillah! Her journey was alright, but her luggage typically came 2 days after she did :P

Mars, well now that you're in Egypt and becoming a hardcore Egyptian fob, I don't have a choice but to love Egyptians, do I? ;) And the shirt isn't orange, nor is it pink. It's salmon, I swear!

American, another one who appreciates good humour that doesn't make sense. Woohoo!

Yeah, that's pretty funny. It reminds me of that time that you saw that purse in Egypt with mickey mouse smiling while saying "Get away!". Egyptians are weird, therefore I am weird. Tell me something I don't know.

I hate murphy.

'Canada-sux' just commented on my blog. Quickly Asmaa, there's bullying to be done and not a moment to spare!

oh and btw I'm so sad to hear the tragic death of 58 of your relatives in that train accident.

Asmaa said...

Nusa, yeah that was pretty funny. Why do you hate Murphy? You don't even know who he is.

AP, done and done. Thanks for letting me know...I'm glad a bullying opportunity didn't come and go without my knowledge.

I once had an Egyptian e-mail me asking for authorization to produce "Malcolm X" jeans. He even had a graphic drawn up illustrating the concept (the tag part on the back of jeans) and everything.
