Do you ever look at yourself in the mirror and think "this is not me"?

Then tell us who the real you is,
care to share?

Yeah, but in those circumstances I find myself wondering if there's anything wrong with the mirror.

Yes. It's weird. Especially when I'm not wearing my glasses/contacts. But I kinda like my blurry self better :)

Yes, especially when focusing on one aspect. Like, did you ever look at just your eyeball in the mirror? Now that's weird. Even pores in your skin is weird.

I think it's a similar experience when you have seen a person's face many many times, but then there's a point when you really see their face and know what they look like. That's the best I can do to explain it.

I'm surprised at how superficial all the comments have been so far, is it just me that considers the post to have a deeper meaning.

It was more of a metaphorical post than anything. Recently I've been seeing myself in the mirror and thinking that I don't look the same. There's something different, something kind of scary. No one else notices anything, which is understandable. But I see it - I see the internal changes reflected in my physical appearance. I look old, I look tired, and defeated.

But also, sometimes when you look at yourself in the mirror, it just strikes you as being completely unable to capture anything you really are. Physical appearance doesn't come close to betraying the kind of person you are.

Sometimes I look at myself in the mirror and think - is this really the face that said or did such and such?

I just don't know.

I can understand what ur saying Asmaa. When you look in the mirror and know you have changed on the inside compared to a while back. Why do you feel so tired and defeated? Too much stress?

I commented "yes...yesterday - i wore something that i knew wasn't really me".
I don't think it is a superficial comment. Let me explain.
I wore a dress that could have been hijaified more, and with the little make-up I put on, I really just looked at the mirror and said "who is this!?" My outward appearance didn't fit with the way I perceive myself to be, and the outside didn't reflect what I really feel inside...
I knew that the reflection wasn't really me. Inward perception definitely supersedes outward appearance. In fact, you can look tired and not really be tired and you might look okay when inside your heart you are experiencing a roller-coaster - sometimes the two just don't match!

No, not really.

I realize that what I am today, is only because of the good and the bad that I have done, knowingly and unknowingly.

Alhumdulillah, for whatever good that exists in my life today. And it is through the mistakes of my own/self for whatever there is bad.

so, yeah......No to your answer

lol....no to your QUESTION, rather

More like I look in the mirror and say, there's no way I went around looking like this all day and no one said anything to stop me!

I hear u, its the oddest feeling in the world - atleast my feelings anyway. I've looked at myself in the mirror at times and wondered if this really is my face, if that's really how i'm supposda look.. and if people could feel my strengths, weaknesses - my struggles and experiences when they look at me, ofcourse they cant but - it's weird..it's something so tangible but not...seems like some sort of a mask sometimes.

end oddnesss.

just say mashaAllah man. ;)

Yeah it's truly a gift to me that the evil inside doesn't seem to show on my face...

Other than that the post also reminded me:
"If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a chaaAaange!"
