All Pink

Alhamdulillah my oldest brother got married yesterday (finally)! Here's a picture of his wedding cake: Before: After: Edit: I felt strongly that I should post the "after" picture of the cake too. There were a lot of comments on how my brother is totally whipped. I mean, the entire wedding was pink - flowers, balloons, cake, napkins, confetti. Hahaha, I feel for my brother. But, Alhamdulillah it's good to know that he's married and he's happy. Two siblings in one summer is more than I had hoped for. I went out for a walk today...I was sitting under this tree and it was really windy. Other than the fact that a ladybug crawled up my shirt and I freaked out, it was actually quite lovely. Just being alone, sitting under a random tree for no reason. I just sat there thinking. I'm not sure how long I was there, but four buses went by (buses only come around every 25 minutes on Sundays). Tried to write in my grey notebook that I take everywhere. I wrote some jibberish and was satisfied. In other news, one of my dad's suitcases was recovered. Lets just say he brought some weird weird things in it. Sugar cane sitting on my counter! It tastes...like sugar. Liquid sugar. How odd. That's definitely something my dad loves about Egypt. One of the few few things :)

Haha, sugarcane. That's so illegal.

I'm glad you have a picture of the cake intact, because by the end, it was just a big gross mess.

MashaAllah - so your brother AND sister got married? (First of all, I didn't even know you had a brother. whoops : ) ) But wow, that's so cool, inshaAllah Allah will make their marriages a blessing for them both and a source of happiness, peace and strenghthening of Imaan, Ameen.

Sugarcane === looooove : ) I had sugarcane over the summer...mmmm...

Ooh jibberish in grey notebook. Gimme! You owe me >__<

Sugar cane is an aquired case. It can be a comfort while watching the grudge. You should have had one Asmaa, maybe that way you wouldnt have hid upstairs in your room.. Anyhow, Olde Woman, come by and take some please. I can't take the constant chewing and chomping noises.

Yes, I was there.

And Mariam, I agree that sugarcane is an aquired taste, but there's something calming about the chewing and the spitting. It'a a lot of fun, actually.

lol asmaa ran upstairs while watching grudge?

Actually, I had *sugarcane juice* over the summer, which is a lot better than just chewing/chomping/spitting sugarcane. They serve it fresh, squeezed with ginger and lemon. THAT'S refreshing....mmmm....

Mariam, your accusation is totally unfounded. I did not run upstairs during The Grudge. (Covering my face with a prayer scarf doesn't qualify, and as I recall, it was you who attempted to turn the channel.)

But yeah, the chewing and spitting has to stop.

Steve, you said that "perhaps it is only through the detatchment from this life that we can understand god?" It's exactly the opposite, you can understand God more through understanding His creations. You realize the favours that Allah (swt) has given you by interacting with people.

"A Muslim who meets with others and shares their burdens is better than one who lives a life of seclusion and contemplation." (Muslim)

It's also from the tradition of the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to get married.

Allah doesn't burden a soul beyond it's capacity. Islam seeks to complement a person's natural state, or fitrah. It's in the fitrah of a person to seek marital companionship. For this reason, a good, sound marriage seeking the blessings of God and fulfilling His commandments is labelled in Islam as an act of worship in itself.

Dear Olde woman, have I ever told you that you're the coolest kid on the block?

No I'm not, but thanks Asmaa : )

If I'm so cool, then visit my useless blog and comment : P

P.S: we neet to meet up when school starts!
