Muslims are obsessed with halal skittles. Whenever they're in a Muslim country they come back with skittles. Whenever their friends go to Muslim countries, they ask them to bring back skittles. Skittles this, skittles that.
Back to my point, I jumped on the bandwagon (partly because of peer-pressure) and decided to bring back some halal skittles from Egypt. (See the Arabic? That proves they're halal)
I brought some back and I gave them out to some friends, who will now apparently love me forever (or until their skittles run out). So here's the deal. I have exactly one handful (see picture) of skittles left. That means 10 packs.
Today may be your lucky day because I am now auctioning them off. Meaning, make your best offer. And I expect to hear some quality offers, like maybe your first-born son.

would it be utterly wrong if I made an offer ?
Um, you can get Skittles here..
MT, no it wouldn't be utterly wrong. Go for it.
Mezba, someone's gotta be the party pooper, eh? Technically, there's Skittles Littles that you might find here that are halal, but they're very rare. All the others have like, khanzeer in them.
OFFER A: The next planet I discover, I will defer to you to name--and yes--you can name it after yourself.
OFFER B: A part in my play. (Don't worry, it's halal and whatnot).
Have your people follow up with my people about the skittles.
ASMAA!! I will write not only a whole chapter about you in my memoirs, but also have the dedication at the front of the book read: To Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert for their unfailing love and support and to ASMAA who inspired me with the idea in the first place.
Skittles are like gold!
Hallal is like the Muslim version of kosher, right? Does that mean they don't have gelatin in them? Or is it the bugs they use in the red dye that makes them unacceptable to my daughter...I won't eat them because of all the nasty chemicals. I wouldn't mind eating bug juice (a little) if they were all-natural.
Oops, only two Ls in halal, not three.
Rizwan, next you're in Toronto, you get one. Because I would definitely love to have a big ball of gas/rocks in space to be called Asmaa :D
Sara, a chapter in your memoirs sounds good, but that dedication is CLASSIC. And one goes to Sara.
(people, keeping track here, there's 8 packs left).
Elizabeth, halal is basically kosher in the sense that they're the dietary rules we go by. It's pretty simple, animals can only be sacrificed in the name of God, no one else. But Halal is much more lenient than Kosher (for stuff other than meat) I think.
I will grant you the good pleasure of my company sometime next week. Deal? :D
Next time I'm in Toronto, I will contact you to collect the skittles. (I'm not even joking).
While you're waiting for me to discover a planet that you will reserve the right to name, I will bring you a copy of my play and you can tear it apart if you like.
Assalaamu Alaikum :)
haha My cousin just got back from England and he brought quite a few halal skittles to distribute to us ... popular item!! I noticed that once you eat it ... you kinda get sick of them :S I think we crave it because we can't eat it. Well, at least with me.
skittles are gross. rizwan, i am disappointed in you and your inferior sense of taste.
Skittles are sweet. You're mean S!
Dis me if you want but if you're going to dis skittles, at least identify yourself properly so that nobody unknowingly sends you skittles as a gift.
Although, if you do identify yourself properly, some skittles lover might send you skittles anyway just to annoy you =P
Hajera, come up with something better than that.
Rizwan, sounds good. I've officially saved you a pack.
Squeeky, ahh the skittles mania revealed ;)
S, I seem to remember you guzzling them down last time I gave you a pack ;)
Rizwan, haha so you think that "S" is being cowardly? I agree with you on that one. But yeah skittles rock...just not eating several packs in a row like I did in Egypt, making myself ill.
(**I now have a total of six packs of skittles left**)
asmaa, who is this rizwan? dude sounds kinda weak. and i am sorry that he must liven up his meagre existence with a mere packet of multi-coloured skittles. how utterly pitiful indeed.
Elizabeth; The only questionable ingredient (that I know of) in skittles is gelatin. Skittles Canada uses gelatin from Beef. So it would be hands off to vegetarians and anyone who would not eat halal beef (I do not know if the beef might be kosher, one can just go to their website and ask them)...
Some people consider kosher to be equal to halal, but there are some differeneces between Kosher and Halal; Fish needs to be Kosher while any fish is considered halal regardless. Then I'm not sure of this but I also read that slaughterhouses can be made kosher (the rabbi praying over it), rather than every individual cut, while for Halal, it has to be every animal slaughtered.
S, why don't you ease up on virtually assaulting me for my skittles appreciation and just admit that you can't think of something fitting to bribe Asmaa with.
Come on! You know you want a pack. So get in the game, dude!
Asmaa, they are so beautifully full sized. Not the mini ones. I am so grateful to you!
rizwan, you know what would please me immensely? some chocolate.
get me some?
S, I'm in Montreal, so chocolate is like religion out here.
There's a place I went to recently with some friends from McGill that was amazing. It's called "Juliette et Chocolat" on St. Denis south of Sherbrooke.
You have to see it to believe it. I urge anybody travelling out here to try it. You'll never be the same again.
you're all nuts.
hi..im like skittles but i aint that nuts
Asmaa I will officially give you my soul for the sweet sweet taste of skittles
And s...dude....share the love, share the skittles - why so mean?
Bee
if you are a muslim and you know that people cant get eat what they are trying to eatt then you should help them and give it for free not for money or a man son just because you have skittles that is all i have to say
