I was at the grocery store today and my little sister wanted to buy chips. So, I'm like okay, they're on sale for $2.47.
Then, I look at the original price, and it's $2.50. And at the bottom of the price tag it says "save 3 cents".
Wow, what a deal. My dad's like, 3 cents makes a difference, if you buy 300 packs, you'll save $3.00

haha..
reminds me of conversations i've had...
person: it was 10% off, so I actually saved $20.
me: you could have saved even more money by not buying it in the first place.
your dad is like my dad. :)
Great! I deleted my comment... here it comes again...
...
At least, 3 cents is still something
Still, some people go overboard. Check this out...
A commerical ad for a tea brand, running on Pakistani channels, shows a Dad come home from work, tired and exhausted because of the heat and traffic.
When his family wishes to go out for shopping, he snaps angrily at them, "Don't you know how expensive everything is?!"
His wife quickly gets him a steaming cup of Tapal tea, while informing him with a great big smirk, "Do you know? This pack has 4 rupees (8 Can cents) off!"
Dad's face lights up, and he exclaims, "This is real saving!"
And he takes his whole family out for shopping.
Ah, I forgot... the smaller pack had 2 rupees off. Isn't it wonderful?
I have seen nothing more absurd on TV. But... there was that ad about a toothpaste coming back to it's original price of Rs. 10, from Rs. 12.
A girl, coincidentally holding a tea cup in her hands when the "breaking news" is announced on TV, exclaims, "Minto (toothpaste) costs Rs 10 again!" She screams. End of the china cup.
Ah, the low IQ of Ad-makers, Ad-approvers and AD-applauders.
ameera,
it's unfair to judge their ads if you don't keep into account the average income of pakistani families. I totally see where my dad says 3 cents is saving from, because he can still convert the money and equate it to things he was able to buy for cheap 'back home' when he was younger. don't blame low iqs.. it's just lower income target market.
Elysium, it's okay, Im Pakistani myslelf so I think I can criticise/make fun of a Pakistani commercial ad. :P
Besides, if you'd seen that ad, you'd laugh too. It was the setting of the scene that made it funny. It was quite a well-to-do family! If it had been a low income family, I'd be as happyas they were. :) Just making fun of the ad, and the funny expressions, not the concept really. :)
Assalaamu Alaikum :D
haha hajera took the words right out of my fingertips ... your dad is definitely a wise man ... every cent counts!
Stop it you meanies!
Life is PTV, PTV is life
