Feeling oh so...red?

I might be years behind, but I just found out that chameleons change colour according to their emotions, and not simply to camouflage themselves. A distressed or angry chameleon turns a dark colour - almost black. A relaxed chameleon becomes a more normal greenish colour. A chameleon turns yellow or red-orange when it wins a fight. Total relaxation renders them almost white. An "excited" one becomes an explosion of colours and patterns. SubhanAllah, the Ultimate Brilliance. Kind of makes you wonder how much simpler life would be if you could read people's emotions this easily.

Chameleons are cool though my favourite creature remains the Mimic Octopus... this thing can change colour and shape to whatever it wants... amazing stuff, subhanallah.

The makers of Doctor Dolittle 2 didn't know that either, Asmaa! Or maybe they did...

If someone here remembers, as a small issue on the sidelines, there was a chameleon who couldn't 'blend in' with his surroundings. They probably needed to get him really angry to jump-start his color-changing mechanism! :P

Modest, sorry, I didn't mean to scare the boogles out of you. But it's so cute!

Umar, yeah man, always a pleasure.

Nauman, I googled the Mimic Octopus and did you know it can also change the texture of its skin? It's a shape-shifter. Amazing!

Ameera, can't expect much from a movie, especially the likes of Dr. Doolittle :D

Pretty cool- I've never seen one in this state! Where did you get the picture from?

Yeah, it can change the texture of its skin too. It's a very cool shapeshifter and it does it all almost instantaneously.

I watched a documentary a couple of years ago on TVO or PBS or something like that about the mimic octopus - I'm dying to watch it again... it was just so amazing, subhanallah. One sequence showed the mimic octopus looking like a UFO (yes, that's right - a UFO!) and mesmorizing some poor crab before grabbing it with a tentacle. It was so cool!

Humairah, Google :D I tried to find the specific picture again, but couldn't, sorry.

Nauman, if you can find the title of that documentary, I'd be interested in watching it. Actually, I'll just ask my mom, she watches that kind of stuff. Meanwhile, I've just been stuck on the food network for some time now.

Squeeky, it's good to know my entries are good for something...

ASA,
That has to be the most colourful looking creature on earth.
Tell me that doesn't looks like a basketful of fruit!

Better still, I think that Chameleon might be stoned! Good stuff Asmaa.

Who-made, Chameleons don't get stoned - they don't stoop to the level of humans :)

M. Ugur dinc/soul, Islamica is the epitomy of triviality. I have come to see that. If you don't believe me, go look up the RIS 2005 thread.

Welcome, thanks for your comments :D

I think we're kind of Chameleonish too in that sense, well, at least if you're pale. You can turn red, and purple and various other colours, potentially. lols
