Out with the old

I've been shirking posting this post for some time. Because it's sad and disappointing, although trivial. But it was destined to happen some time. I spent about 5 hours with a friend of mine last last Thursday looking for a new hat. We basically went into every store that carried hats in the entire mall (and it's quite a large mall). We even went back to the store where I bought my original hat. After the hours we spent popping in and out of shops turned up nothing unique, I settled for this hat: It's just brown and beige and pinkish and blue. It's...normal. Everyone I showed it to simply shook their heads at me. People were telling me how disappointed they were in me because of the lack of individuality expressed in my new hat. They say that it just doesn't compare with my duck hat. And I did check out the TTC lost and found, but nothing. Oh well, it keeps my head moderately warm. But that still doesn't change the fact that I feel like I've betrayed my old hat by cheating on it.

It's not horrible, Asmaa. It's practical, and doesn't shed and looks fine.

People who shake their heads don't know the effort that was put into finding it!

But after that long experience, I'm always on the look out for hats, whenever I go into a store. It's strange.

It's a nice new hat. Makes you look more 'normal' as you put it. Maybe that's best since it balances out with your zany personality. :)

maybe u should look for a more unique one on ebay... tis tragic indeed.

Sara, it's not horrible. And you're right, it is highly practical. It kind of gives me the heebie-jeebies. I have to force myself not to look at anymore hats whenever I go into a store. Thanks for wasting your day with me by the way :D

Nauman, I'm zany? Look who's talking, Mr. I-wish-I-owned-an-easy-bake-oven.

Pink, I never thought of that but I'm just going to end up spending more money. And I don't quite trust hats that have been previously worn :P

Hey, you can insult me all you want but do NOT insult the EZ-Bake-Oven... any toy that can make you cookies or muffins has got to be a cool toy and I wish I had one as a kid, even though it was for girls. :(

I have a hat-addiction.
I hope I'm not alone.

Salam Asmaa,

I know it must have taken a lot to conform and purchase a hat that was actually normal. I hope that this new hat will do you justice and keep your head warm for the rest of the cold season. To your old hat, we will miss you, but alas we must let bygones be bygones (what song is that from?) anyhow, you did good. (Well not really, but I just wanted to make you feel better:) Take care for now, till the day we meet on the slopes, peace, fr:)

Nauman, umm I was insulting you. I highly respect easy-bake ovens >:)

Elysium, yes, I have to force myself not to look at hats anymore. But, you probably are alone, sorry.

Umar, shirk: to avoid or neglect (a duty or responsibility).

fr, I'm not sure what song that's from; I don't listen to the oldies station :P Thanks for the well wishes and your attempts at making me feel better, it's working. Injuries, here I come :D
